G. Scott Maynor
Associate / Charleston
Scott is an associate in the Charleston Office of Carlock Copeland who focuses his practice on General Liability, Healthcare Litigation and Commercial Litigation, specifically Homeowner and Real Estate Association defense. Scott earned his Juris Doctorate from the Charleston School of Law, cum laude, where he was on the Moot Court Board and a Charleston Law Review member. Scott is a CALI award recipient for Construction Law, Criminal Law and Legal Research and Writing. During Law School Scott was a clerk for The Honorable Joseph Buckner, Chief District Court Judge and several highly-respected Charleston area firms. He received his undergraduate degree at The University of North Carolina in International and Area Studies, while there he had the opportunity to study abroad with the Students of International Training’s Community Welfare and Public Health Program, in Salvador, Brazil.
Prior to joining Carlock, Copeland & Stair, Scott was an Assistant Solicitor with Charleston County’s 9th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, where he saw multiple trials to verdict and gained valuable litigation experience. While at the Solicitor’s Office, Scott focused his prosecution efforts on hundreds of General Sessions charges including violent crimes, narcotics prosecution and property offenses. In addition to the criminal litigation Scott performed while there, he managed the expungement of eligible criminal records and worked closely with local bonding companies and their respective insurers while negotiating bond forfeitures.
In addition to his active litigation practice, Scott regularly serves the local community through his involvement with the Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center.
