EEOC Warns Employers Not to Act Upon “Personal Myths, Fears and Stereotypes About Gender Identity.”

In a recent press release announcing a $50,000 conciliation agreement between an grocery store and its former employee, the EEOC warned employers of its focus on protecting transgender employees. The employer was accused of terminating a well-performing employee, who had recently been promoted, after she indicated her intent to present as a woman.
