David F. Root

Dave Root specializes in civil defense litigation. He has tried numerous civil cases throughout Georgia covering a variety of subject areas, including general liability, trucking, construction, and employment.

Dave is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL), and a member of The Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC). He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association.

Dave served two terms as Chair of the DeKalb Bar Association Litigation Section. He is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and has written and spoken on a variety of legal topics.

Dave is a member of the practicing bar of all Georgia trial and appellate courts, Federal District Courts in Georgia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Since 2008, Dave has been an honoree on the Georgia Super Lawyers® list in Atlanta Magazine.

Dave is a magna cum laude graduate of Wake Forest University (B.A., 1977) where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Alpha Theta. He graduated from the Wake Forest University School of Law (J.D., 1980) where he participated in Moot Court.

Dave is an elder at North Decatur Presbyterian Church, and is Board Chair of Georgia Interfaith Power and Light, a non-profit organization that engages communities of faith on issues of environmental stewardship.
